Preparing a day of Spinning fishing. What we need to cast and retrieve.

The practice of spinning consists of casting an artificial lure into the water and then retrieving it slowly or quickly at different depths or on the surface. It is an exciting fishing, because as long as the lure is in the water, we can have a bite even inches away from the fisherman.

When retrieving line, imitate the movements of a small fish that may present problems during its swim.

The practice of spinning in the sea is one of the sport fishing modalities that is becoming more and more fashionable, either from land or from boat. It is also widespread in freshwater, using artificial lures with the classic spoons, although nowadays there are many other types of lures, such as small minnows or vinyls.

RODS - They should be light and easy to handle, usually made of carbon. Spinning rods are usually between 2.40 m and 3.30 m in length.

REELS- Usually light weight, fast crank speed. Both spinning rod and reel should be proportional in size and weight, according to the weight of the lures to be used.

FISHING LINE- Thin and of good quality, normally we will use a braided line of 8 or 12 Teflon strands, which is recommended to avoid wigging when casting. The braid, not having elasticity, will help us to have control over the lure to make the movements we want.

We will also use a shock leader or short fluorocarbon bass that we will attach to the braid, so that the fish do not see it and to it we will attach the clip or swivel to hook the lure.

LURES- There are different types of lures, whose use will depend basically on the type of fish we are looking for, being basically walkers and poppers for surface, minnows, vinyls and spoons for fishing in mid-water or scraping the bottom.

We must not forget that the bigger the lure we use, the more likely the fish will be bigger, therefore our equipment must also be more powerful, and the reel must have a larger amount of line.

SALABRE-Another indispensable accessory, its size and length will depend on where we are going to fish.

CLOTHING- We will spend days outdoors, so it is advisable on hot and sunny days the use of UPF50 clothing that protects us from the sun's UV rays, polarized sunglasses that will help us see the fish by eliminating reflections from the water, caps or hats that protect us from direct sun on the head, warm clothes or water on cold, rainy days, or when fishing next to breakers that can splash us with water. The use of footwear that fixes the foot and avoids slipping is very appropriate when we practice spinning.

Ideal places to practice this modality.

When fishing in the sea, it is best to look for places where the sea is lapping, as these skimmers will be the preferred hunting grounds for many predators.

Bird concentrations are also a good place to cast our decoys.

The docks and breakwaters are also ideal places, although it is necessary to take into account the possibility of being authorized to fish in them.

Whether in the sea or freshwater, we must look for all those structures that vary the monotony of the bottom, and especially those where a fish can have an advantage while waiting for prey. Remember that these structures not only change the morphology of the bottom, but also protect from the current and therefore can be used as shelter. Remains of structures or sunken ships, rocky shallows, small rock or sand channels, rock ledges and isolated rocks on a sandy bottom, sudden drops in depth, are the preferable places for this fishing.
