TUNGSTEN, A METAL WITH SUPERPOWERS AND POLLUTES LESS THAN LEAD
Recently a new material has appeared in our fishing tackle boxes ..... TUGSTEN. The name is Swedish and means "hard stone" ...... It is one of the 119 elements of the periodic table .... the N- 74. Like so many other raw materials. ... its market is in Chinese hands.
Until very recently it was present in all Spanish homes. Its ability to glow and light up with the passage of electric current, together with its high resistance, has been used to make the filaments of light bulbs.
It is arguably a "green" alternative to uranium or lead (more polluting than we think.....). The downside of its "super powers".... its use in missiles designed to cause terrifying devastation, in very localised areas...
Present in microscopes, X-rays and now ...... it helps us with lure handling during bass fishing. What's next ..... perhaps depleted uranium?
