The Mazarronero managed to catch a "Dentex gibbosus", better known as male sama or snapper, weighing 25,250 grams, the largest catch ever of this species, and which has recently been approved by the IGFA as a world record.

The catch had a size and weight of a specific species. "Dentex gibbosus, better known as male sama or snapper. It was caught in recreational fishing mode by boat in our bay. Since these fish are very scarce in this area, with a weight of 25,250 grams, it is the largest catch of this species ever seen.
The catch was made on December 5, 2021, but the record was in process for verification of tests, lines, hooks, weight, etc..., until in a period of 3 to 9 months they have given validity to the world record of Pedro Oliver.
